The provisions were more favorable to those tax credits to lawmakers who wanted to see them preserved.

And Norman says that he got some promises from the president that there would be ways to address that.

I want to say the bill's not changing from the Senate version.

We know that now.

So anything that was extracted would have been promises through executive actions.

And Steve Scalise, who's the number two House Republican, said that there's discussion about doing another budget package, essentially another reconciliation bill.

I have a feeling if there were some conversations about what might go into that, I think we're still going to have to kind of figure out what's going on there.

But I also want to add one other important dimension to this.

A lot of the holdouts are people who have been known throughout the year to hold out and then cave for whatever reason.

And I'm not suggesting that we should not have taken their holdout seriously because every vote counts.

It's entirely possible if they didn't hear what they wanted to, we would still be here this weekend.

We may still be here this weekend.

But I think there's a lot of people who felt like they needed to have their objections heard or registered in some way.

And I don't know that all of them necessarily wanted concrete promises.

Yeah.

Well, that's a good question.

I actually don't know, because what happened was everything was stalled and we were all just kind of hanging out.

And then there was a sense that everyone was going to come to the floor.

You had this really surreal moment where the speaker's taking a photo of this group of holdouts, Victoria Sparks and Thomas Massey and all these people who had basically complicated the last 24 hours for him.
