And so we were able to transfer that business and harvest, and we gained equity.
We gained value because of that.
So we were able to, in July of 1990, join the Merry Maids Home Office and, again, found myself in a place that I was mentored by strong executives who cared for me as how I performed and also who I was and developed me as a human being, as a person.
Well, then for the next four years, I had the opportunity to lead five years the Merry Maids business, and then ServiceMaster had acquired that a couple, three or four years earlier from Dallin Peterson, who founded Merry Maids.
And so I had a chance to be in franchise sales or development, and then was...
Yeah, we enjoyed that.
That was great.
But again, helping men and women become franchisees...
was always an important
also felt that responsibility.
Today and through the years, I had an opportunity to speak before our franchisees and speak before many different groups.
And I
don't get nervous when I speak in front of a group because
just want to talk about what I experienced.
The only time I get nervous or got nervous was when I stood in front of new franchisees
who had bet their egg money, if you will.
And I would stand up at our welcome gatherings and visit with them.
And I'd get nervous because I'd look at those faces and say, I'm responsible with my team to make sure that each of you are successful in this room.
And that made me nervous because I had made a commitment.
Our company had made a commitment to those franchisees that we were going to support them.
