Again, you don't build a coalition and a margin of victory that vast with a narrow, under-50-only white group.
Folks from the political establishment, including the House minority leader,
they've kind of grabbed for all of these narratives because they don't really know what to do with a movement that I think, at least in the near term, is clearly ascendant.
You know, New York City is often kind of othered in its place and kind of our national political ecosystem.
But just because there's only one Astoria or there's only one Greenpoint or there's only one Bushwick, it doesn't mean that there are not other
neighborhoods and all of these large metro areas across the country that don't have a lot of young renters, college educated voters, very disillusioned with the political establishment, but increasingly organized, you know, shout out to the millennials, right?
Like they grew up post Iraq war and this Obama Sanders Trump era, you know, they're an extremely politicized generation and it's no coincidence that in all these districts, millennials are kind of spearheading these DSA wins.

I think, um,
electability is probably the, still the best argument maybe used against the left, particularly in these national elections and in swing states.
But I do think to, um, Akayla's point, it's teetering for sure.
I mean, I think again, Hillary's defeat in 2016, Kamala Harris's loss in 2024.
I think a lot of voters who might not be socialists or even progressives are waking up to, you know, some of the perils of trusting what electability is.
And for as, um,
impactful as these triumphs are in Democratic primaries in these large urban areas, the real watershed moment in the Democratic Party will come when a leftist or a socialist wins a competitive swing state in a general election, in my opinion.
The fear is that they have so thoroughly lost
the next generation of voters.
I mean, the real through line between all of these elections, it's not even necessarily class, rent or homeowner, race, for as much as folks want to paint it that way.
It's age.
The Democratic Socialist candidates, they do better in places where a higher percentage of the voting base is young, is under 50.
