I'll give you some more stories.

So when Darwin published on the origin of species in 1859, you know, he was right.

That theory has stood the test of time.

OK, but he was not the first.

There were many other people speculating about the origins of species and they were wrong.

One reason Darwin waited so long because he returned from the Galapagos in 1835 and he opened his first notebook in the fall of that year.

And it was not until 1859.

OK, what took him so long?

Well, because a guy named Robert Chambers wrote a book called Vestiges, in which he had his own theory of evolution that was widely criticized and completely wrong.

So Darwin thought, oh, I don't want to be like that guy.

And, you know, everybody laughs at me.

I want a career in science.

I got to really take my time and build up tons of evidence.

So he does it.

Right.

So so that's what it takes.

Right.

The famous French astronomer who discovered Neptune, he discovered Neptune by seeing perturbations in Uranus's orbit.

And he said, there's got to be something right around there pulling it that direction.
