So before we get into this, I want to make you aware that I have a worksheet to go with this conversation.

Because I want to give you a place where you can work through this privately later.

Because forgiveness is not usually a one and done moment, like we all wish it was, right?

Jesus told Peter to forgive 70 times 7, you know, and that's a lot of forgiving.

And I don't think that means we sit there with a calculator and then we stop when we hit 491, right?

I think Jesus was showing us something about the nature of forgiveness.

And sometimes you forgive someone and then three months later,

something happens and then you realize,

There's another layer to this.

So you forgive the person.

Then you have to forgive them again when you remember what that cost you, right?

And then you forgive them again when you see them doing well and part of you thinks like, how did they get to move on and I don't, right?

Then you have to forgive them again when someone else says the exact same phrase that they used to say and your whole body, it tenses up and tightens for the whole rest of the day and you're carrying this tension.

You know, you forgive them when you realize you're still rehearsing that conversation in your mind or while you're in the shower.

And finally saying the things that you wish you had said 10 years ago.

I hope I'm not the only one who has done that.

And then you forgive them again when you see their name pop up on your phone or on social media and your heart rate starts to change.

So this is the thing.

You have to forgive them even though they've done something wrong with you.
