But what I love about this one is that we're 10 years into telling it.
The first one was 2017 in Rua Pika Pika.
And when I think about Rua Pika Pika, it was very dark.

And I feel like that's where we were as a people, a country.
And this one, a decade later, had so much lightness at the end.
And that's because that generation's growing up and they're like, we're going to move forward.
We're not going to hold on to this anymore.
And it's just so awesome to hear.
I'm actually quite good in the field because, you know, you're just so used to not getting emotional and thinking about the next question or where you're going to go in the interview.
But with that one there, I actually did not hold it together.

What she was saying and what she says in the documentary is in her research, because she's like a native Reo speaker, you know, so already I'm like proud of her because I'm like, yes, you cracked it.
You've broken the stolen Reo generation and the rest of it.
And so she's out there.
First language speaker taking on this mahi for her iwi, researching these really, really old motiatia that are like the matrix.
These are the matrix to our language.
And inside of these motiatia and haka are all the secrets that have been held on to.
She's just describing, as they call them, the whakarau, which are the people that were tricked into coming out and then they were sent off to Napier and then sent to the Chatham Islands with no trial, forced exile, like left their whenua.
They grab the ground and they rub it all over their faces and their skin because they know they're never coming back.
