You've got good intent, bro, and every now and then you're going to say something that's going to upset someone.
You come from a good place.
And some things need to be said, as upsetting as they might be.
What more do you think this government can do to help those that need the help the most?
To me, it's less about, I don't want to talk about the government, although at one level I could.
I think Parliament in itself, I think there's some really big issues in New Zealand.
Some of them are the ones that you care deeply about.
There are other ones that I'm part of now, which is the ballooning cost of pensions, for example.
So I'm just the business leader, so I don't really understand politics at one level.
But if New Zealand was a company, there are some strategic issues that we are not dealing with, like the growing cost of retirement funding, which is not just the retirement funding, but people live longer, which means the health costs become enormous.
And I've got an 88-year-old mother, so I know exactly how enormous the health costs get because she still gets amazing care from the New Zealand health sector for things that if she had a diet at 80, she clearly wouldn't be getting.
You know, the social stuff where we've got, you know, inequality, child poverty, all that stuff.
That's an issue today that ends up being a massive cost 10, 20, 30 years down the track.
So those are what in business language you would call strategic issues or risks.
And I just don't think as a country or as a parliament.
We're dealing with those.
Each party in its own way is too busy trying to make sure how do I get elected next time and how do I hold on for the next round rather than as a company you're paid to deliver both short term performance and make sure the company is successful in 10 to 20 years time.
I think as a country I'd have a question about the second part of that.
