It makes a lot of people ask the question of me, well, shouldn't I wait a bit longer for the gap to get a little bit bigger?

Yeah.

But the simple answer here is that every day you wait now, you're paying more money than you should.

And so my answer back in the other direction is if you have access to finance and you can do this and you can upgrade your home and upgrade your car, get onto it straight away because you're going to start saving money pretty much day one by doing so.

All of the things and that's why it makes it really important to do your numbers because not only may it make some things uneconomic to replace from

you know, tomorrow.

In many cases, the sequence in which you do these things will vary from place to place.

So I'm a rural New Zealander.

I drive about 30,000 kilometers a year.

It's an economic slam dunk for me to electrify my vehicle to save because the cost per kilometer of travel is just so much cheaper.

I have a friend who has four teenage daughters.

the hot water heat pump is by far the best option, you know, to make sure that they bring down their bills.

He lives in Central Christchurch, doesn't drive as many kilometres as I do.

And in many cases, as you get more and more electric, electric vehicles, electric hot water, electric cooking, electric heating, then solar starts to play its place there.

And in many cases, I thought, you know, at the end of it, the number one piece of economic advice would be electrify all the things in your life and then you'll have a fantastic return on the solar that goes on your rooftops.

But New Zealanders don't really behave like that.

They like the cool, shiny new stuff.

So at the moment, a lot of people are putting the solar on their roof first and then going, oh, wow, I should probably really run off the energy I can create myself rather than the energy bought from overseas or from a large energy landlord here in New Zealand.

So it just depends.
