Brown, which would have resulted in them either trading or cutting Devontae Adams, and they were making calls about possibly trading Adams as they were looking at Brown, but they saw something that caused them to tap out.
And maybe it was a combination of what we'd have to give up to A.J.
Brown, what we'd have to pay him.
But they saw something in their preliminary research that caused him to walk away.
The guy's going to get a chance, and it's not like the Steelers are going to have to take him early.
He'll be available if they decide they want him.
And who knows what Mike McCarthy's approach is going to be.
I don't know what his history has been when it comes to showing up and scrutinizing these incoming quarterbacks.
Now, he landed in Green Bay, and Aaron Rodgers was already there.
He landed in Dallas, and Dak Prescott was already there.
So it's not like he's had to do a lot
a scouting of quarterbacks, but he was one of the few guys who secretly loved Patrick Mahomes back when Andy Reid and Sean Payton both knew what Mahomes was going to be and they kept their mouths shut.
I remember hearing at the time it was those two and McCarthy that were the ones who understood what Mahomes could be, and I don't know how actively McCarthy scouted him.
It would have been big news, though, because
He's in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers.
If they were kicking tires on the homes, people would have wondered what the hell's going on.
I mean, that's what I've heard.
And I know the Steelers' position is we want Aaron Rodgers, and if he doesn't show up for a while, we're thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Will Howard.
Mike McCarthy really loves him.
It's just a hell of a coincidence.
