So you're eliminating the outcome from the process.
Because I would go to journal and be like, what did I accomplish today?
Well, pretty much nothing.
Okay, I don't wanna say that.
So I'm just not gonna journal today, and then I miss a day, I miss a couple days, and all of a sudden, the momentum's gone.
So with daily questions, you're really just focusing on the effort, not the outcome.
And so I have on there, did I do my best to be spiritual, love my wife, love my kids?
Create something, learn something, and exercise.
Example, if I am getting over a cold and I force myself
to just go for a short, slow run and I run a mile and a half, I may give myself a nine for did I do my best to exercise.
If I'm training for a half marathon and I cut my long run short and I do seven miles instead of 10, I might give that a six.
So it's all based off of the effort because I believe if you consistently put in the effort, then the score will take care of itself.
That daily questions format has really stuck with me.
And I actually, I came from Roam Research too, Jeff.
So I was starting to do that in Roam Research using the daily notes.
I built that into Obsidian now using the metadata properties at the top.
And I was able to create some fancy graph views so I can chart my scores and my averages over time, bring that into my personal retreats.
And I've been doing that consistently now for, I think, five years.
That was one of the first workflows that I built in Obsidian, and that really was the thing that caused journaling to click for me.
And then this kind of gets at another point to what you were asking about, Paul, getting started with Obsidian.
