It's the same philosophy, I guess.

It actually makes sense that those guys mesh up pretty well, don't you think?

yeah let's take a short break and we can start dissecting this uh brand new nuggets roster uh while we're waiting for the big guy to to come back from the injury so don't go anywhere

Okay, let's start with the obvious winner of this newest purgatory.

The Nuggets have found themselves after Nikola Jokic's injury.

So Peyton Watson now has six straight games with 20 or more points after having exactly six such games in his previous NBA career.

Now...

Granted, four of those were in this season already.

So he's actually taking a huge leap even before Jokic went back.

So City, we all know that Payton was a five-star recruit in high school but had a miserable year at the UCLA story by heart.

I also know that Colin Booth was preparing a huge extension for him before he got fired, but I also have to say that that extension was way smaller than what Payton is probably going to get this summer.

Is this presumed month without Joker showing us exactly what the NBA should expect from Payton going forward, or is it just a blip on an otherwise different route for him?

I try not to stick too hard on the boot versus Michael Malone dispute.

It's just a story we've talked about so many times.

But I have to repeat one thing.

I got the epiphany.

the moment Michael Malone got fired on the Nuggets because suddenly some guys, even before he got fired, actually, when he was forced to play guys like Pickett late last season, when we saw that Pickett can actually play

That was kind of eye-opening to me.

I was really low on Peyton Watson before the whole epiphany because Michael Malone was putting him in such positions where he wasn't able to show any of his shine there really, except for occasional defensive excellence.

And I tend to trust the NBA coaches more than my personal hunches.
