the high up, high up boss.

I had many bosses in between.

So it's like very unusual that anybody with multiple layers of bosses is meeting one-on-one with the top boss, right?

Like, and I was 18, he was in his thirties and I met him alone in this office and he would have me perform and drill this five minute speech over and over and over.

And he would go, stop one, two, three, pause, go.

And he would like curate the way I spoke.

He would curate my gestures.

Say like when you say this word, put your hand up.

So it was all like very performative, which was never my style as a speaker and is not my style as a speaker today.

I'm very organic.

And so it was just all very curated and I had to slot into their vision of what that looked like.

It was really hard because I didn't see my friends when I worked there for almost two years.

I didn't have a life outside of my work.

I was constantly on the road touring and speaking for them.

And when I wasn't, again, my whole social circle was the people who worked there.

I had lost connection with a lot of my previous friends.

And

With losing the job, I was also losing my housing.

So I moved back in with my parents into my childhood bedroom, which at 20 years old, going from the big city in your own apartment to the suburbs in your childhood bedroom is like a nightmare.
