And I honestly was dealing with so much following my accident and physically healing and emotionally healing.
And then my guide dog of seven years passed away unexpectedly.
So I was such a mess.
And I was dealing with like three to four panic attacks a day.
I could hardly eat.
I just felt lost.
I did not know where to begin rebuilding my life because it felt like the sense of community that I had been so desperate for that I had found was gone.
This sense of purpose.
that I had needed to feel like all of this hardship I had been through with my vision loss wasn't all for nothing was gone.
My guide dog, like this one thing I left was gone.
My life in the city was gone.
This independence that I had built for myself as a young blind person was gone because now I'm living with my parents again, my income,
gone.
So now I'm getting back on disability support from the government and going through the process of reapplying for all of that.
Like it really felt like everything I'd worked so hard to build up was stolen from me again.
And I always say like that year, 2014, when all of that happened is the year that rivaled grade eight, 2008, when I went blind.
Like that is how hard it was.
It's the second hardest period that I've ever been through in my life.
And it took a really long time to rebuild.
It took a lot of therapy.
