And to be honest, like I was so traumatized from the experience as a whole that I started my own business because of it.
I was like, I can never work for other people again.
Like if that's what being employed is like, like I remember trying to go to HR for certain things and it felt like they were protecting the organization over protecting the employees at times.
And so it kind of made me feel like it's not safe to work for other people.
I need to just work for myself.
But it took a really long time.
And what's crazy is I didn't even go on SSRIs, like anxiety and depression medicine, when I went blind and was suicidal.
But I went on it after this.
It was the only way I could cope was to be medicated and focus on rebuilding something where I had autonomy.
And it's crazy to say, but I don't regret it in that it taught me so much.
I grew so much as a person.
It taught me about my boundaries.
It taught me about...
autonomy and freedom and how important that is to me as a disabled woman.
And it really showed me what I don't deserve and that I don't need to feel desperate for opportunity.
I deserve opportunity and I will work for those opportunities myself.
I think that everything they do came from a good place.
Like I think they genuinely did want to make a positive change in the world.
And I think the way they went about doing it was extremely misguided and misdirected.
And I think the us was like, we're the shameless idealists.
