And I think that as a minority woman, as somebody from an oppressed community, I feel that in both circumstances, I was in ways taken advantage of.
And certainly my innocence was and my naivete was.
So now I'm much more skeptical and I definitely side-eye the way that other people used to side-eye when I was in these organizations.
Well, like I said, public speaking since I was five, like I wouldn't have done that if it wasn't for that original charity.
And that's the first love of my life.
I will still say to this day, I feel the most alive on a stage.
And I know people think I'm crazy when I say that because so many people are like, oh my God, I'd literally rather die than public speak.
It's my biggest fear.
I'm the opposite.
Like put me on a stage, girl, give me a mic in my hand.
And like, I would have never discovered that love if it wasn't for that first experience.
And I would have never seen how my voice has power to make change.
So I am grateful for that first organization for the experience that it gave me in developing my skill as a speaker that I now use to share a very different message.
And equally, for the second organization, the more cult-like one, I am grateful for
all the ways in which it helped me grow as a person.
And I would have never started my own business, which I've been running for 12 years now successfully as an entrepreneur.
I would have never started my YouTube channel perhaps, which became my full-time job doing social media.
And all of that came from all the lessons that those two organizations taught me.

don't wish those experiences on other people, but I don't regret it.
