This is what started my work was trying to get out of that all or nothing pendulum swing because I was in the cycles of all and nothing throughout my whole life and instead get in the mindset of doing something.
And I have felt it a lot internally, right?
Perfectionism is very shame-based, okay?
So instead, we're going to focus on doing something.
Instead of thinking about all the things you could do, even with one thing, like clearing a counter, do something to start.
That's what I try to focus on, especially when I'm feeling really overwhelmed with a certain task or even a certain season in my life or a week that looks crazy.
I was looking at my day planner for this week and I have been a very grumpy gal this whole afternoon because I'm like, that's just too much.
And instead, I am going to challenge myself every day to just do something, do something to take care of myself.
To help myself and with all the larger tasks also to just focus on the starting piece for each thing.
And, you know, this gets to something that we won't have time to get into as much.
But thanks to my own perfectionist background and the all or nothing pendulum swing I went on, I was 20 years of all.
And then I was 10 years of nothing.
And I had to figure out in between.
A big part of learning how to do something was learning how to speak to myself differently.
