They are stopped from raising those property taxes.

So the county would not be able to bring those up.

And what they do is it's based on if they are going to raise more than, raise property taxes more than the CPI that year.

So or and not to exceed three percent.

So if they're going to go above three percent and they can get 10 percent of voters, which one senator I thought was very concise in saying he called it a tyranny of the minority.

He just said he can really see some groups in his town that could get organized and really get together almost always that petition to stop voters.

Here's the problem.

Property taxes on a local level, they pay for the things and the services that we want on the local level.

So that's one of the challenges.

If you've got an area that's growing a lot and needs to invest some money, say, into utility work or bridge work or those types of things that is really going to cost some money, it could really hinder their growth.

And you had a lot of counties come in.

I think I counted over 52 maybe when I looked who put in opposing views when this was presented to committee.

So now the other one that didn't pass was more of a general cap on assessed value on property.
