40% rated the national economy as poor or very poor, compared to just 12.8%, almost 13% who felt that way about the Kansas economy. matched

And it's interesting that we are seeing those types of numbers in a time where, like one of Moody Analytics' chief economics matched

Folks there, their chief economist said that Kansas is one of 22 states that's currently experiencing a recession. matched

And they put that in line mostly because of agriculture and then some white manufacturing challenges. matched

I think so, and I think then on the other hand they walk into the grocery store or look at their energy costs, for instance, that we've really seen some large increases and then worry on another level. matched

This is a really polarizing issue as we've seen in some communities like Leavenworth where they're fighting the reopening of the core civic prison there to house ICE immigrants that they're detaining. matched

I think what they really looked at, you see a very distinct line drawn between whether someone is here illegally or someone is here legally. matched

And what they talked about is 66% agreed that legal immigrants contributed to the economic growth in the U.S., whereas 14% disagreed. matched

And they also overwhelmingly agree that they contributed to the economic vitality in Kansas at 64 percent, with just 15 percent saying that they do not. matched

So, again, I think, you know, that is really something that you would see differences in communities maybe that have a larger immigrant population and really understand how they contribute to the economy there. matched

Now, they were pretty polarized on some of these questions where it was about equal, 38% agreed, 42% disagreed, when they were asked whether immigrants who were here legally took social services away from American citizens. matched

And then also about the same 27% agreed versus 30% disagreed on whether the U.S. matched

should accept more low-skilled immigrants. matched
