And what happens is I talk about this in The Only Constant.
I think it's a beautiful analogy.
When you have so many unresolved experiences and pains and traumas inside of you, and every time something happens in your life, instead of you actually feeling the pain in a clean way, you go back to like, oh, something must be wrong with me and whatever.
when that happens it's like you need to push all the past experiences that you went through before and the traumas so that you could like add that one thing on top you need to make room for it so you're you're constantly pushing something down so you know when people in yoga classes you know you hear the instructor say take a deep breath and let it go all the way to your belly
I could never do that.
Literally, I would be like, I can't bring my breath all the way down.
I would feel like if I went like, my breath just wants to let, I need to exhale.
And through working with my therapist and working on understanding why my body is the way that it is and why I get sick the way that I do and why I get the anxiety and the stress and all of that,
I realized that part of the reason why I couldn't take in that deep breath is, and part of the reason why I couldn't accept healthy love or look for healthy love was because there was so much that was there that over the years piled up that I was so uncomfortable with feeling my emotions.
that I immediately had to be like, nope, this is not for me.
So if like a deep breath, if a deep healthy love that feels so good, that's like telling me sit in a state of peace where...
You could take a deep breath and just sit with it and you're not constantly agitated.
I couldn't take that in because I had so much unresolved stuff from my past that made feeling anything uncomfortable.
So I made that connection between not being able to fully breathe in and having all those toxins in my body, the metaphorical ones, that made any new emotion that was wanting to come in be like...
there's no room for you.
Just leave.
Because if you're going to come in, we're going to have to get rid of all of this other stuff.
So I could never ever just relax.
And making that connection really changed my life.
So I would feel like I'm suffocating if a new emotion came in.
