However, we've seen, I think American media has done a very bad job, or no, sorry, American media has done an intentionally uh uh an intentionally successful job of obfuscating the degree to which this is repeated and advertised policy in Israel.
Um, one thing I want to talk about that I think is underrepresented.
Reported, and I'm I'm curious whether whether this is in your sphere, but it it's certainly one of the topics of our podcast we want to talk about is the the sort of ecoside angle of this, which is the massive climate impact of this of this genocide.
Not only the the specifically the genocide in uh in Gaza, but the Israeli occupation of Gaza, the US-backed military occupation of Gaza.
Uh we we well know that by many metrics, the United States military and it's and
Its proxy surrogates, such as the Israeli army, are the largest contributor to, you know, by many, by many metrics, the largest contributor to the acceleration of climate change in the world.
We also, there's had this recent story of all of these um desalinization plants in the Mediterranean going down, which is thought to be largely a result of the IDF's destruction of Gaza's sewer treatment, uh sewer system and sewer treatment abilities.
So I was hoping
you could speak a little bit more to I think we often talk about these these uh
Horrible events as if they are as if the tape measure gets pulled back in when it's over, as if, well, that was horrible, but now it's over.
We had to do that.
There's no ugly way of getting through war, which by the way, I don't believe in any means, but I think that's often the narrative.
Um, and often overlooked in that is like, okay, it's time for society to rebuild, is the major, not only climate damage, but the dent that we do in our ability to stem the acceleration of climate change at a crucial moment.
moment.
So I was hoping that you could talk a little bit to what does that look like in Gaza?
What does it mean for Gazans?
And what does it mean for the world at large?
Thank you for explaining.
And I would even I would even add to that just one of uh a per on a personal note, one of the things I've I've read about this is that some of uh Gaza's main crop was some of the oldest olive trees in the world.
And uh cr crucial to a large part of the world's olive oil supply was c olive oil coming from Palestine.
