It's probably harder for themselves because they feel like they're being wicked or evil or something.
And I didn't feel that.
I felt it was more about my relationship with my husband.
What does this mean about our relationship?
And then also just the public at large.
I have a small child.
I don't want him to be ostracized.
I don't want someone to call Child and Protective Services.
And I didn't want to open that Pandora's box.
Until he was older, until I was no longer working at the Department of Justice.
You know, I didn't have those variables that I had to worry about.
And now I can be as open as I want to be.
And so many people can't.
And so that's why I am.
So I say, you know, the people who can be out there and talking about non-monogamy and showing a public face.
and showing that they are a responsible person, and they are just choosing to live this different way, that helps to move the ball forward, just like anyone who is in what's perceived as some kind of alternative lifestyle.
And if people get to know you and go, well, they're a good person, and they bring me my newspaper when it gets delivered to their house by mistake, and they watch my cat when I'm out of town, and if they're going to have a party, they let me know if it's loud or
whatever, you know, they're good neighbors and they buy Girl Scout cookies for my kid and just a regular person.
And then they find out, oh, you're also non-monogamous.
They're like, oh, okay, well, you have this foundation of being a good person.
