It feels like it gets earlier and earlier every year that we talk about how that's moving around.
But there's so many different ways to come at this as well.
I mean, driver management can mean a lot of different things.
I mentioned earlier about Andreas Steller and Papaya Rules, the way they had to navigate that.
I feel like they had to be brutally honest with Piastri and Norris at different points about what was happening, but also...
the way that I think Stella was important in that he had to convince both Piastri and Norris that the intentions of the team were good behind every decision whether or not they got them right or not was also moot but I think Stella handled that quite well you know we saw Toto Wolff maybe struggling sometimes to deal with Hamilton and Rosberg but actually did that quite well given the circumstances then driver management can be a bit different as well I mean if you look at James Vow's
the way his pitch really got Carlos Sainz to join, that's maybe an underrated version of driver management, is actually managing a driver's expectations before you've even signed him.

And I think that it was so left field, wasn't it, Sainz to Williams, that I think it speaks to that point.
And I think Vasseur and Hamilton having a relationship that went back a longer time
obviously just helped that out whereas vows it seemed that it was really just the power of his conviction and belief in the williams project that really convinced science because you know the audi project was there for him as well so i think that that's that's that's where you can look at this from very very different points of view it's obviously the management your drivers in the here and now but it's also the way you're kind of you know i suppose managing all the other drivers around you at the same time because as we know these conversations with drivers and teams are just ongoing all the time aren't they

But then he's an interesting example in the modern case because I think Netflix shone a light on that, on his style of doing that with Colo Pinto.
I think Alpine suggests that maybe it was slanted in a certain way, but it shows you that maybe he's still very much from the old school, the way he manages the driver.
I don't think that quite computes nowadays with the way, especially with the younger drivers.
I feel like they need a bit of an arm around them a bit more than maybe in the old days.
