And the one that we're talking about today, the one that got the most traction, had to do with a sea monster called the Leviathan.
I mean, it's a great line to say.
You actually just described the Leviathan perfectly, because that is exactly what it is.
It shows up in the Bible.
There's a couple mentions of a terrible sea monster in Job and Psalms and Isaiah.
And unsurprisingly, because this is true of a lot of the Bible, there isn't a consistent description of it within it.
In Job, it's a monster with impenetrable scales and enormous teeth.
In Psalms, it has multiple heads like a hydra.
In Isaiah, it's described as a twisting serpent.
But, I mean, a lot of the Bible is symbolic.
And it's not clear that Leviathan is ever meant to represent an actual literal creature.
And I feel like we can do books like the Bible a disservice when we try to force myth and metaphor to become flesh and blood.
Well, I mean, that's exactly what's going on.
So as far as I can tell, it started off on a mysterious place called Facebook.
Oh, wow.
Which apparently still exists.
So an image starts circulating on Facebook during the storm, and it appeared in the image to show a Google Earth map of the northeastern coast of the United States.
And off the coast, under the water, was what looked like an enormous serpent's head.
And accompanying the image was text that read, have y'all seen the Leviathan is waking up.
They're saying this is the reason there is a snowstorm, saying the weather is being manipulated to freeze this creature in its tracks.
