I go, well, I'll maximize my gain this year.
And then next year, if I have to sell, I'll try and minimize the gain.
Yes, this one is one of my favorite subjects.
Wow, that's niche.
It's boring to most people, but it literally impacts every single ETF investor in Australia.
And a person on the train recently recognized me from a video.
I am, somewhat.
He had been investing in ETFs for 10 years, dollar cost averaging, every single month, and had no idea this was a thing.
So this isn't just beginner and ETF investors.
This impacts experienced ETF investors as well.
And so what happens is every single year Vanguard or BetaShares or whoever you're invested in will send you a member statement, usually around August or September.
And there's a whole heap of stuff on there that's super boring.
Yeah.
And people look at them like, yeah, whatever.
And they file it away.
Now, the cool thing is in the last couple of years, a lot of that data has been pre-filled into the ATO, which is super handy.
But that's also a trap for people because they're like, oh, it's pre-filled.
It's all handled.
