And if if all of us want not only kids to suffer less in high school, but but to Bill's point, to be happy.
Let them know that the relationships in their lives are as great a source of happiness as anything that they can ever achieve.
And I I probably echo the point made earlier that as parents, we love our kids and we want to we always want to help.
And it just isn't intuitive that when our kids are having a hard time, that those two natural tendencies we have of wanting to jump in and fix it or you know kind of s relentlessly soothe them, you know, that that that has value.
But as we move forward, we wanna we wanna use the power of empathy, we wanna use the power of validation, we wanna use the language of a non anxious consultant to to put kids in a position where they can solve things.
For themselves and they can develop tools to cope and soothe themselves.
And we're really we're helping them in that situation, but we're not doing those things for them.
And in part because there's nothing more frustrating than trying to do that and being ineffective.
But our job as parents, as you said before, Debbie, is is to play the long game, that I'm not trying to get my kid through this, this day, this hour, this test.
And sometimes we do.
But I really want to be thinking the the long term of where do what where where do I want this kid to be at age twenty or or thirty and what relationship do I wanna what do I wanna have with them?
And vice versa.
Always a delight to be with you.
For us, the most important outcome of childhood and adolescence is having the brain you're gonna have for the rest of your life.
then golly, you sure want a brain that's motivated to set and pursue goals that are meaningful to that person himself.
Otherwise, we as employers or teachers or parents or whatever will spend our lifetime trying to apply carrots and sticks to get kids to do what's in their own best interest rather than wanting them to do what's in their own best interest.
And I'm a I'm a test rep geek.
I've spent twenty-five years helping kids combat an alphabet of standardized tests like the SCT and ACT.
Uh and figured out pretty early on that while tests are standardized, kids aren't.
And so had the opportunity working one one on one with kids to really try to figure out what a what a uh in a situation was it revealed about the student as much as it revealed about the test, and then tried to work on ways to bend and weave and and and kind of meet kids where they are and try to teach them in ways that fit their learning needs rather.
