So PCP comes with what look like very attractively low monthly payments.

I mean, there are some cars that you can get on a PCP that are 99 euros a month.

So that's a really small car, by the way, but it can be done.

But because of this end of payment, the guaranteed future value payment that comes at the end.

It used to be known as a balloon payment.

Yeah, I think they try to avoid calling it that now because it doesn't sound very nice.

But yeah, but that's what it is.

Because of that and because of how the car is valued and because of how PCPs work, it actually works out more expensive.

Mm-hmm.

With a PCP, effectively, somebody else is getting the trade-in value.

The dealer will get the trade-in value because they will be able to sell that car on probably for a reasonable profit in the second-hand market.

With higher purchase, you own the car.

You can make more of that used value than you would be able to with a PCP.

So that's why it works out actually slightly cheaper overall.

But I still think the best thing to do, honestly, is get a personal loan.

If you can get one with a good rate, you can go in, you can get yourself a better deal on the car you're buying because you're a cash buyer.

That's not necessarily always the case because sometimes car dealers like you to take out finance because guess what?
