It's a Mazda, so it's reliable.
So it'll provide years of dependable family service.
Fingers crossed, touch wood.
But I think the best value you'll ever get in a car is if you buy an ex-dealer demo.
Now, you do lose out slightly, which is something that some people don't like because there's somebody else's name on the ownership form before yours, the dealership's name.
But if you're not bothered about that, and why should you be, you're getting a huge amount of car at a knockdown price with effectively delivery mileage.
No, it probably won't even be all year.
What happens a lot is, remember what I said about coming at the end of the month or the end of the quarter?
Dealers have to get their numbers up because they receive significant bonus payments from their franchise holders, from the car companies.
for selling X amount of cars per year or per month or per quarter.
But of course, they don't have to technically sell them.
They just have to register them because that's what looks like a sale.
So it doesn't happen to the extent that it used to.
We went through kind of a bad old days period where this pre-registering thing was happening a huge amount and there were thousands of cars having reg plates slapped on them and then immediately shunted into the secondhand market just to keep the numbers bubbling along, which did horrible things to residual values and secondhand values of new cars.
But that does seem to have died down a lot.
But still, dealers do need demo models.
They need cars they can show off to people and go, here, we can go for a spin around the block and see what you think.
As long as you're not overly pushed about the color of the car and the particular equipment that's in it, those can make fantastic purchases.
Often they will be quite high spec models because that's what the dealer wants to show off.
And as I say, you're effectively getting a new car at a used car price.
