Yeah, the other restriction is that you have to be scrapping, not trading in, scrapping, end of life vehicle, a car that's at least 13 years old.
So the idea is get older, theoretically more polluting models off the road, put people into nice shiny new battery powered cars instead.
which is a noble enough thought to be getting on with.
So that's basically how you qualify.
Preferably you live down the country, you've got an older car, so it has to be 2013 or older, and you want to trade it in against a new EV.
And if you do, you'll get an extra 5,000 from the government.
That's an extremely good question because what the department's come back and said and the minister said is that, look, this whole idea is to gauge interest.
Again, it's part of that let's get people talking about it thing.
It's also part of, so they say, it's looking at, well, is this something that would work on a bigger scale?
But they know it'll work on a bigger scale.

So I don't know is the short answer.
Well, to be fair, it's only €5,000 extra.
If you're looking at the list price of an electric car, 99% of those list prices already have that €3,500 incorporated into them.
The cars that qualify, obviously.
It is really only an extra €5,000.
