I could think of a lot of things to do with that, but that's beside the point.
Most of the advertised price is for EVs, and the grant is up to €50,000 on a new car.
After which you don't get any grant.
But the advertised prices, almost always you'll see a little asterisk next to them and the asterisk leads you to includes VRT subvention and the SEAI grant.
Because the whole point of that grant, of the 3,500 grant already, is to make electric cars more affordable.
Both literally more affordable and also visibly more affordable because that's a crucial point.
You need to get people over that hurdle because we don't have the time, because we are living in a time of climate crisis.
We don't have the time...
for electric cars as a technology to find their natural level.
We need to push people towards them and hence the grants.
If you go to a car dealership, they will sort out all the paperwork with you.
All the applications are done through the SEAI, so the car dealer can sort all that out.
You can contact the SEAI directly, and they will get you forms to fill out.
But basically, if you go into a car dealership, they're all geared up for this.
Indeed, we know from the piece we ran a couple of weeks ago in the Irish Times, we know that they're oversubscribed for this.
We know that many more people have made inquiries, and some have even paid booking deposits.
If you want to buy a new car, a new EV...
