like if the person so say they need to eat a bit more than they're inclined to eat what kind of stuff are they looking at a slice of chicken yeah say a portion of chicken maybe two or three times or ham or something that is and if you don't find that palatable and you can also obviously take it in non-meat forms is to take a powder put a powder in water mix it up and to take it but it's a huge problem we see it particularly in people when they go to hospital how much you know if you lie in bed for a week and you're over the age of 60
Your muscles will age a decade.
So when you get out of hospital, yes, you get a lot of that back again, but you never get back to where you were.
So the next time you arrive in hospital, you're arriving with less muscle, okay, and all of a sudden you're in this downward spiral towards frailty.
So maintaining muscle mass is so important for us as we age.
Well, there's some evidence for as we get older, it seems to have a positive effect on brain health.
And that would be the reason I would take it.
But if you're taking a well-balanced diet, but again, we come back to this issue about appetite.
If you're not taking a well-balanced diet,
then maybe it could be a potential supplement that you would take.
Because the second thing that affects individuals as we get older, we don't absorb our food as well.
For example, vitamin B12, iron, magnesium, we don't absorb them as well.
So we become deficient and our skin gets thinner as we get older.
So we can't absorb
the sunlight.
So we don't make vitamin D, which therefore we can't absorb calcium.
That increases our risk for osteoporosis, anemia, all of these diseases.
Okay.
So supplements maybe, along with the decreased appetite and this inability to absorb nutrients, maybe we need to be thinking about taking supplements.
So would a standard multivitamin kind of thing be... Yeah, I would highly recommend that you talk to the pharmacist, you know, tell them what your issues are.
