Like there's so much that goes on behind the scenes that I knew of, but didn't get into like the granular detail of it.
And you found respect for people behind the scenes because it is a bit of a shift.
Yeah, it's crazy, really, because you're probably a little bit selfish, aren't you, as a player, as an athlete, when you're kind of just, yeah, you expect things.
Oh, why can't that be done?
Or, you know, it's not as simple as that.
There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes.
And until you're in it, you don't really appreciate it.
And yeah, any kind of football club that's run well, there's so many elements to it that can make it a success behind the scenes.
And I think that's actually fundamental to success, really having that.
structure, processes, everything running smooth behind the scenes then to just, I suppose, go out and do your stuff then on the pitch from the player's perspective.
Yeah, it's a big part of our recruitment process.
We generally have three aspects like data, live scouting and then video scouting.
So those three elements together when they're aligned can help you in that process of identifying a player and bringing them into the club.
For us, coming from the men's side, yeah, we have really good data models that help us identify players in a data pool.
The women's game is probably a little bit different in terms of
the data providers aren't there as such as globally across different leagues so that makes it a bit of a challenge but also we use data in a big way to help us filter down players and also unearth those kind of hidden gems that maybe you can't get eyes on at the moment so it does play a big part in our process.
Yeah, it was huge for us, I think, to get a player of Denise's calibre, not only as a player, but also the qualities she brings as a leader.
She just gave the changing room like an instant lift, gave confidence to the rest of the girls because they were bottom in a really hard place there in January and then just instantly give you that confidence and leadership, I suppose, which was crucial to us.
And Denise has been fantastic.
