And that's a great relief.
It's a bit of a convoluted story.
I don't know if it'll be good listening, but here's how it goes.
So I meet those guys.
My best friend from high school, his partner worked at a digital agency and they were advertising a role for the first employee of a business.
It was called Musicadium and its job was to get independent musicians to put their music on iTunes.
And I applied and I got it.
And so I was effectively a startup CEO without having founded the business.
And to me, I was like, this sounds so much fun because I was a music journalist while I was studying.
And so I guess they looked at me and went, he's studying law and he's a music journalist.
That's
You know, I think my salary was 55 grand.
So I think they were just happy to have me and only employee and I just had to figure it out.
So I got to put training wheels on as a startup CEO four weeks after I met these guys.
Like it was all serendipitously happened and I would never would have taken it had they not all said, okay, perfect, go do it, hurry up.
So, I figured out digital music in 2007, 2008, 2009, like how music is consumed on the internet and I started writing about it and then I became known as a digital music expert.
And then I had music labels and music managers reach out to me proactively and want to talk to me and want to ask questions about the internet.
And I left the Musicadian business to start an agency consulting to EMI and Myspace and a whole bunch of marketing agencies who had music strategies.
And I just became the digital music guy.
And my first business was that I founded was an agency called Native Digital.
