Though the quiet and still inky expanse of nothingness still held him suspended in the void, something else was with him.
Something just as dark, if not darker than the absence of light or stimuli around him, and something he could feel was distinctly not of his mind.
It was an alien presence, something strange and unfamiliar.
In a fashion, it seemed, or rather felt to Tim, that it was itself a part of the same nothing which surrounded him.
An intelligence, or personality, or at the very least a perspective that in part seemed to embody the darkness itself.
It smiled, if what he saw could be called a smile.
It was a dastardly and terrifying implication of a grin.
The notion of long, sharp teeth just sort of floating in the nether rather than the sight of them rattled Tim to his core.
