Tim said, struggling with every syllable as his mind raced over the various possibilities.
Was he dreaming?
Was he still tripping?
Was this some weird side effect of his trip?
Could this be some fever dream due to illness or even impending death?
The various possibilities were endless and his mind raced over each and every one in what seemed like a mere moment.
He turned and looked out the passenger window of the car as it sat at the red light.
His head felt like it was a spinning top, and as such became a physical sensation, he shook it from side to side, closing his eyes.
He opened them a moment later as he felt the car begin to move forward.
Looking up, he saw that the light was still red and that the car seemed to be rolling freely forward.
Whipping his head around to his left, he called out, ''Amanda!''
Yet the driver's seat was empty, as was the hand he had been holding her phone with.
The sudden and impossible disappearance of she and her device were only matters Tim was able to consider briefly, as the car, now slowly rolling into the intersection, was soon crashed into on the driver's side, crushing the driver's door well into the seat Amanda had just been sitting in and utterly obliterating the window on that side of the car.
The loud bang was then accompanied by a dizzying spin as the small compact car was hurled spinning across the intersection by the larger SUV which had hit it.
Tim saw, but could not process the sight of the world turning and flying all about him as chunks of safety glass careened and bounced about the cabin like flakes in the snow globe.
It was over in but an instant, but in those moments felt like it took an eternity.
Then things went black for a moment.
