So what's driving this outbreak?
One would be, of course, the vector.
So we've had very diverse climatic changes.
We had cyclones then followed by very extreme temperatures, which would, of course, favor increasing vector breeding sites.
And last year, we had a massive chikungunya outbreak and, of course, less dengue.
So then people are less worried about dengue because we didn't have a massive dengue outbreak for a while.
So
less, I would say, attention towards eliminating vector breeding sites.
That would be another reason.
But also coming to other reasons is unplanned urbanization.
And the other factors is the virus itself.
You see the virus evolves.
And as I mentioned last year, we had a massive chikungunya outbreak, which actually led to a decline in dengue cases.
Both chikungunya and the dengue virus use the same vector, which is Aedes mosquitoes, to transmit.
