So I think the current virus, which has been around for a while, would have adapted for better transmission as well.

All these things coming together leading to this massive outbreak we are seeing right now.

And just for people who have not heard about it, how serious is dengue fever?

Yes, so that's a very good question.

The vast majority of dengue infections are mild.

But let me define mild.

Still, it's like a very painful illness.

You have high temperatures and basically you are disabled and not being able to go to work.

For some people with mild illness, when I mean mild, I mean not

needing hospital admission, sometimes they can't go to work for 14 days because of the tiredness they feel.

But the people who do require hospitalization, that is because when they have certain warning signs that alert clinicians that they might go into trouble, which is we are talking about plasma leakage and lowering of blood pressure, which they can go into shock.

And when you have this plasma leakage, then the mortality rates have been over 20%.

And that's, you know, pretty high.

So right now, because we don't have treatments and we don't know which patients are going to be developing this very bad plasma leakage, all patients suspected of going to develop complications need to be admitted to hospitals.

And, you know, the capacity reached the limit in some hospitals.

So how can people prevent it?

So there are many ways for prevention.

For dengue as well, it's an integrated strategy that actually everybody accepts that that is the way forward.

One thing, of course, is the vector control.

So when we say vector control, it is getting rid of breeding sites.
