So we get hooked and attached onto certain things where we overcare, and that's where we ruminate.

It's called avoidance coping in the research.
It is like an ostrich putting its head in the sand and thinking, oh, I'm not going to deal with this situation.
I'm not going to think about it.
Except your brain does think about it because the problem is still there.
So you end up ruminating about this event you are not actually addressing.
And all of us
potentially have things like that, like the difficult conversation you don't want to have, the decision you don't want to make that will be too difficult.
And just events like that, you end up ruminating about them.
Avoidance is not a good strategy.
That's exactly right.
And that's the next key distinction.
