There are two types of trades, really.

There are the ones who are the pure rentals, the ones who are looking for a starting pitcher that, hey, I need to have a game three starter that I trust and I know can be efficient enough and has been there before.

that we can say yes we know that you can put up six innings for us there are a lot of younger arms that we think are really really great but you throw them into a playoff situation you're gonna have teams that want to pull them in the fifth or so for their bullpen because they don't trust them in that high stress situation we don't trust them to get through at bats quickly and gossman is

super good he is very efficient because he throws a ton of strikes that four seamer and even when the splitter is out of the zone a little bit more than it should and it's not getting as many strikes he is inducing a lot of balls in play he doesn't have a high walk rate and that actually can speak to high success in the playoffs it's one of the elements that is vastly different in playoff baseball versus just regular season

So when you look at the rentals, you have like Tara Scoble, you had Kevin Gossman in there.

You have Dustin May, who I actually think is a very undervalued trade trade option right now.

If the Cardinals decide, OK, fine, we have like a 11 percent playoff odds.

to do this but then again the cardinals and who really knows um they've quit matthew's coming up i'm really excited about that um but with gossman i i would say that if you're looking for a rental as opposed to that two three year guy like your reed detmers who might be on the market same with um you have sandy who's about a year and a half to go i believe and then you have uh

A few other options, there's Emerson Hancock being thrown around, of course, by the Mariners.

I would certainly put Kevin Gossman in that top five, top ten of starting pitchers for this playoff push right now.

And you also look at the White Sox, who need...

more of a veteran presence somewhere right now they might be more interested in that two three year option and spending on that because this is not just a one year window for them this is something that is uh they're hoping to actually build something out from this but you might see some sort of deal there with kevin gosman as they'd want to make that push of course for the central and the uh the wild card spot so

i would actually think that kevin gossman's name should be thrown around a lot once the blue jays really establish yes we are sellers um i don't know if you're gonna get much for shane bieber at this point uh his next scheduled start would be monday and oh gosh that's so annoying you just want to like be able to get one more chance

to say, yeah, that start was really stupid and not what he is.

But yeah, for Gosman, I would actually consider him someone that could go to the Braves really effectively because they have the relationship there as well.

They need a playoff starter, definitely.

As I mentioned, also the Cubs.

Those are the two best fits I see right now.
