got to go through a couple days of bp and stuff with the team and um so i had like my first glance of you know big league things and joe was so laid back so cool so much just seeming to enjoy every day and so i had that impression and then you know you get i get called up in september which is uh feels like a world away from spring training and

you know, the team is still in it, but a lot of things weren't going well and this and that.

And for him to still carry himself the same exact way was really impressive to me because it's so easy to be someone in spring training and when everything is smooth and easy, but then everything, a lot of challenges happen and then people are very different usually, but for him to be the same person and to stick to all the morals and things that he emphasizes and live that out himself, I think that's a great form of leadership.

I thought he knew they were really screwed.

A lot's even changed just with the Cubs since he managed and with the sport in general.

I guess just if as a manager now there'd be

with how he sees the game, if there's things that he would emphasize differently than what he did, you know, towards the end of his time with the Cubs.

Or even, I think, an even better question is, like, Joe was so much on the front end of a lot of things that we call, you know, modern analytics because he was the guy that was, like, hand-drawing spray charts for hitters to do defensive positioning and things like that.

So I guess, like, he was...

He was so ahead of it.

I guess things that he's seeing now that maybe he saw coming from a long time ago, I think would be interesting to hear.

I know he was big on the defensive positioning side, and that's obviously something that I do every day.

I don't know, just such a life in baseball.

It's interesting to hear.

I mean, that's, it's so impressive.

And I think you nailed it with the pitching side.
