With Indistractable, there were lots of books about how to stop getting distracted, and they were all the same.

Stop using your phone.

Stop checking email.

Email.

Like that's not gonna work.

Like, how do I just stop checking email?

You're gonna get fired.

That's a nice thing for a a professor who has tenure to tell you to do.

But real people in the real world, we can't just stop using technology.

Why would we want to?

It's fantastic.

Now what we should do is figure out how to use it so that it serves us rather than hurts us.

And that's what I was looking for.

And for me, really, the genesis of indistractable was this moment with my daughter when we were

Together and we just had some daddy-daughter time.

And I remember we had this activity book of different things that dads and daughters could do together.

There's all kinds of little games, have a paper airplane throwing contest, do a sudoku puzzle.

And one of the activities was to ask each other this question that if you could have any superpower, what superpower would you want?
