And I remember that question verbatim, but I don't know what my daughter said.

Because in that moment I took out my phone and I said, Oh, I'm sorry, honey.

I just have to do this one thing.

And by the time I looked up, she was gone.

Because I was sending a very clear signal that my phone was more important than she was.

And she left to go play with some toy outside.

And that's when I realized that I had to do something about this.

Because it wasn't just with my device and it wasn't just with my daughter.

It would happen when I would say, Oh, I'm definitely going to start eating right and exercising.

But I didn't.

It would happen when I said, Oh, I'm going to work on that big project today.

And yet I'd squirt.

The news or stock prices or sports scores or everything but the thing I said it was going to do.

And so if you ask me today, what superpower do I think is most important?

It's the power to be indistractable.

And so I wanted to find the deeper reason why we get distracted.

And it turns out it's not our phones.

The phone is what we get distracted with.

That's like how we relieve our discomfort.

But really, there's a much deeper psychology around why we get distracted.
