social media, there was no way of finding out about things unless they were in the mainstream.

Yeah, only in those days we used to do it with a photocopying machine and a staple gun.

So it was literally homemade magazines.

Basically, if you could find the phone number of the record company and ring them up, you could just hopefully get through to people.

My most famous phone was Adam Ant.

Wow.

I phoned up his record company.

This is before he was really big, when he was doing Dirt Wears White Socks.

And I just phoned up and I said, oh, can I speak to, you know, I want to get an interview with Adam Ant.

And he just happened to be in the record company offices.

And he just, I just said, can I do an interview for my fans?

And he went, yeah.

He said, how about tomorrow?

I went, oh, I'm kind of at school.

And he's like, oh, OK, maybe come up on Saturday.

So he just graciously gave me an interview without ever having heard of my fanzine or anything.

And that's kind of carried with me because whenever somebody asks for an interview, if they say they're at school or they're doing it for a college thing, I tend more to say yes.

Because I just think you should pay it forward because, yeah, I mean...
