We see stuff in the press and it saddens my heart when an incident happens because
But it doesn't mean that MI5 and the police failed.
Sometimes you can only react to what's happened because the person showed no signs of doing anything.
But if we look at the sheer number, and I appreciate you and your viewers wouldn't have access necessarily to that information.
Some of it does come into the public domain.
But the police and MI5 do foil a lot of proposed attacks.
And if MI5 did not exist and the counterterrorism units of this country did not exist, there would be a lot more.
I can't talk about terror plots because my side with MI6 was risk management and sort of gathering intelligence.
So in terms of terrorism, that was more my insurance work.
What I can tell you is that because we would insure companies against terrorist attacks.
So obviously we get the claims history.
We would also ensure schools, universities against active shooters.
So we get the claims history.
And what I can tell you in terms of active shooting cases, that has risen.
In terms of terrorism, I think it's fair to say it's neither high or it's not low.
It's sort of medium risk at the moment and rising because of political sensitivity around the world.
We know what's going on in other parts of the world.
Whenever a war breaks out, there's always people, unfortunately, civilians, who get caught up in it.
And unfortunately, what happens, if you can imagine, if you were in a country and a bomb lands on your home and kills your parents, your cousins, and you're left on your own, where does your resentment then lie?
