And we obviously had all these great examples that we were inspired by, namely Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, which was always my kind of North Star.

But we talked about how I wanted it to be very visceral.

I always think when you're working on something that was originally a play, when it's an adaptation into film, you really have to justify why make this a film.

And I think the reason almost always has to be that you are using the medium of film to bring the audience closer to the emotional experience of the characters, that that's what film can do.

You can allow the audience to feel almost telepathic.

We use a lot of really bold, very close-ups.

And then our wides are really to accentuate the kind of emotional distance between people in a confined space.

I love what Adam said, though.

faces into landscapes, and we'll allow the audience to feel like they've really been somewhere, they've been on this adventure.

That had a lot to do with our production design and Jade Healy just crushing it in the design of that set.

But the lensing, the framing was all designed to make you feel that you were slowly getting to know these people better, but you would also be kind of allowed to feel how much the other characters were performing.
