i'm british born i grew up in wimbledon in london i'm the middle child of five yes middle child of five and we you know we grew up in wimbledon so we grew up very much you know being the odd people right the odd ones out right in school so i think for me
With the narrative from my father and also knowing my dad's story and my mum's story in terms of how they arrived to kind of plant their roots in the UK, the success that they had on their journeys, which ultimately, in a nutshell, my dad had a scholarship.
to study in the UK, which back then, I guess in the 70s, was pretty impressive.
But, you know, I'm biased.
He was a very impressive man.
So, you know, his take was, well, if I can do it with a scholarship coming from Nigeria and I'm giving my kids the best education
start in life you know I'm we're kind of landed in Wimbledon where we're growing up which is not necessarily the most comfortable place to be when you are the odd one out for my mum and dad but they made that conscious decision so if he could do it there was no reason why we couldn't do it
And then my mother, her story was very much escaped the Biafra war, left Nigeria with her sister, had a lot of, had seen a lot of trauma already in her very young life at the time, but made the mission.
