um how often do you see a bill looking this chaotic on a wednesday and get passed by a deadline on sunday how often does that happen yes i've seen it happen um budgets typically you know um these big state budgets you know a multi-billion billion dollar budgets that have big deficits and everyone's up in arms no way we're not going to vote for these cuts no way we're not going to vote for these taxes
And you're like, well, I guess this thing is going to fail.
And then again, at the 11th hour, a big giant booklet gets slapped on the desk of every lawmaker.
And they said, here's our deal.
You better vote for it.
So with changes, with changes along the way between now and Sunday.
Yeah, with changes.
So what will happen is the leaders will negotiate the changes.
They'll go to their caucuses and they'll say, here's what the changes are.
And if they want to muscle their, you know, if they feel so inclined to use their capital to muscle all their members to vote for it, they will.
What I've discovered in this process is Governor Pritzker doesn't seem to have.
that much power over the senate or the house even though their supermajority democrats clearly the senate leader don harman and the house speaker chris welch want to run their own sandboxes and they don't want interference so there's only so much pritzker's been able to do uh... tend to twist arms and to get votes so uh... he doesn't have the power we might think he has and and that's why i'm skeptical that anything's gonna get done by sunday but stranger things have happened
