Matt Freeze is probably going to be the starter of this team.
He has no World Cup experience.
He's been outplayed, in my opinion, by Matt Turner.
who is the incumbent goalkeeper for the U.S., started in Qatar.
And yet he's the goalkeeper who's earned the trust of this coaching staff.
He played through the Gold Cup with them, won the penalty shootout against Costa Rica, took them to a Gold Cup final.
And Matt Turner was in kind of a shaky club situation at the time.
He since came back and has been playing consistently for new England and playing really well early in the MLS season, but it looks like freeze is going to be the starter.
He makes me nervous.
I think he, he isn't, um, he he's prone to making mistakes.
And, and I think that if you have a goalkeeper who makes a mistake and cost you a goal and you're a team, the level of the U S that can be something that really sways an entire group stage game, right.
Or an entire group stage.
So that that's where my concerns start with the goalkeeper position.
And then even when you look at the back line, you know, they're trying to create a more stable environment playing with this sort of hybrid back four back five with Alex Freeman playing as sort of a swing.
Center back, right back.
Chris Richards coming back healthy should make things a little bit better, a little bit more stable.
But defensively, they have to figure things out in transition.
They get cut open easily by teams like Portugal and Belgium and punished in those games.
They have to figure that out going into the group stage.
If they don't, if they still allow too much space in transition defending, I think that's where things can go really badly for them in the group stage.
