I'm in this weird place where I've written geez over ten novels.
I should probably know the number.
Um
And I I try to make each one feel different somehow.
Even if it's just like fooling my brain into you know, it's a balance.
Like I wanna have the confidence like, hey, you were able to do this before, but I want it to feel new and challenging.
Um
Like so for instance, like in this book, one thing that actually I really enjoyed doing.
I don't know if I'll do it again because I don't want to s I don't want to repeat myself.
But for most of this book, before I sat down writing, I reread two of my favorite novels by Patrick DeWitt, sort of an American literary humorist.
Um but I only I when I sat down I would read three pages because he's sort of like a Cohen Brothers movie in book form.
Did he write The Sister Sisters?
Oh The Sister Brothers, yeah.
Um Yeah, so I reread The Librarianist in that book.
And it was really wonderful.
Like I it was almost I I got happy because like, oh, before I sit down and write, I get to reread these three pages.
And it just
It made me want to come to the seat and type.
Um, and after reading the three pages, I was just like in a good mood.
I I sort of really enjoyed doing that.
