And then after the war, because, yes, the war ended in 1945.
They were still making a living by part-time teaching and my father was doing architectural drawings and so on.
And then they just began to get the first opportunities.
I mean, and so my dad, through his friendship with Peter Morrow, a colleague at the Regent Street Polytechnic, where they'd both been teaching, got this opportunity to start doing exhibition design.
Well, that would have been very exciting.
So Morrow and Robin Day's first exhibition collaboration, 1946, you know, that was the beginning of something new.
That's right.
Jet exhibition.
Absolutely.
And celebrating the new technology.
Absolutely.
And my father did the graphics because Peter had rated him for his skills in that area, even though, you know, really he wanted to be a furniture designer.
He did.
He did.
Initially, in collaboration with Peter, through the late 1940s.
I mean, he then went on to do more exhibition design in the 50s, kind of separately from Peter.
But yes, that was where it started.
So it's building up a practice, but not in what he really wanted to do.
So she was managing to sell dress fabrics, so she was carting her portfolio off to companies in Manchester and so on who were pretty snooty and, you know, dismissive.
I mean, so they both, they had a pretty tough time to sort of make something of themselves as designers.
