I mean, I think my life was elsewhere.
In some ways, theirs was too, because in the 60s, they got this very simple weekend cottage in the woods in Sussex.
And, you know, what my dad loved doing was chopping wood, making stuff.
What my mum loved doing was gardening.
You know, they're often seen as this incredibly glamorous, beautifully dressed couple, which they were, you know, but in lots of ways, their hearts were still very much...
with kind of making and doing and hands-on stuff and, you know, very kind of straightforward.
They really weren't part of the design world in a sort of social sense, really, I don't think, other than through their work.
And of course they were in their work and they were incredibly professional in their work and that included their presentation and all of the stuff you see in the famous photos.
Totally, I'm sure.
I don't remember it, but I would have been brought down from my nursery, you know, and told to sit there and do that.
Totally posed, totally posed, yeah.
And she would have prepared for it and it would all have been...
But that's part of the job, isn't it?
I think that's how she thought of it.
